The law requires that selection for appointment to the Civil Service is on merit on the basis of fair and open competition as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.

The UK and Scottish Government announced on 23 March 2020 that stringent restrictions are now in place to our normal day to day lives to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed. Consequently, SCTS will not be advertising any new vacancies until further notice. We cannot say at this stage how long this will be in place for and will continue to review the situation as and when further Government announcements are made. We recognise this will be disappointing for some however this is necessary for the protection of our people and all communities.
